The Ultimate Relationship.

I know that you know, that we all know the meaning of faith. We have have been memorizing it since we were in Sunday school. It has been drummed into our heads for the longest time. But today, I need us to take this a little more seriously. And for the benefit of a wholesome discussion, we’ll look what the Bible says:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1

Throughout Hebrews 11, one can see how faith shaped Abel, Noah, Abraham, and Moses among others. These legends applied a leap they were not sure of but they still believed that God will come through, and He did. It’s the only thing that stirs Him, that shows Him how much we want to connect with Him. The original unblemished relationship He created for us. I’ll say now that Faith isn’t magic for miracles or even an ATM card. It’s so much more than that.

The Gift of Salvation.

Jesus is the way to God just like faith is the way to Christianity (I hope that makes sense). It’s the bridge, showing God that we humble ourselves and believe in not just any higher power, but His existence. In Romans 10:9, It is written that by our confession and belief in our hearts of what Christ did for us, we are saved. That leap is always entirely up to the individual. For me, that leap made me experience a love that I never thought possible (John 3:16)

Less to Zero “Wrong choices”.

Let’s face it. Most of the things we do in our own willpower, most of the time do not work. Either because it’s not the season for it or because it’s not with the right people. Do I still sound like a loser now? We’ve tried businesses, schools, relationships and some do not work out and we say that’s life. I beg to differ. Though Ishmael was Abraham’s plan B, we get to witness how his faith grew strong. He moves from the only home he’s ever known only to inherit land as far as the horizon. His wife is able to conceive a son despite her old age. And even though Abraham took the leap to sacrifice Isaac, he was stopped and offered generations (Hebrews 11:8-12).

When we learn not to lean on our own understanding, we acknowledge the Holy Spirit. Therefore we show that we trust Him enough to guide us. Yes, that still small clear voice in our heads that speaks the truth that sometimes we ignore, that’s the one. We avoid all types of complications when we listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. And what if I’m entangled already in my mess? One step at a time, allow Him to work.

Edification and Spiritual muscles.

Growing in the things of God requires constant reading of the Bible. That’s why it’s so important to read it and not only hear it on TV or at church or as a discussion. Have a hunger of your own so that you may be improved spiritually. Constantly depending on someone else doesn’t contribute much as opposed to your own exploration. The Bible is meant for everyone as is the Holy Spirit. So what is holding you back? Start small and build up. You can never waltz into a gym and start lifting a barbel worth 1000 pounds on it. Start building yourself constantly, slowly and strongly and your heart will transform through faith.

“He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

John 7:38

Keyword: believes, application of faith. If you ask me, someone who has living water springing out of them is someone who is the most Christ-like person. A person who has heard the Word over and over until faith has been grounded in them (Romans 10: 17). A person whose Plan A and forever plan is God, holding His hand and never letting go.

Faith is desiring that relationship with God the way He meant it to be.
