It’s amazing how this word catches our attention. We already know that whatever is being advertised may have a free trinket to close the deal. Why are we so drawn to this word and yet we live lives that aren’t free so to speak? A lot of effort goes into the things we do but I’m here to remind us that there is one freedom that can unchain everything else in our lives.
Worldly Freedom.
I love the idea of doing what I want. Who wouldn’t want that? The choice of doing whatever you want however you, please. The thing about this is that it is a false freedom. We all have time under the sun to live a life that will be remembered. To leave a legacy that will speak to generations. What kind of life is that? Is it one planned and meditated on or one that does not have a plan at all?
Many get stuck in a rut because there is no instructor on the road of life. Take a look at the prodigal son. The world will devour a gullible soul and spit it out after it sucked one dry in this example. Remember who the ruler of this earth is. Why is freedom leading to unfulfillment? Corrupted wealth and power are mere illusions that the enemy dangles in our faces. We are created to serve others, not just ourselves.
This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: that one thing happens to all. Truly the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil; madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead. But for him who is joined to all the living there is hope, for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
Ecclesiastes 9:3-4
Spiritual Freedom
The world does not understand the concept of the Christian faith. As a result, there’s a lack of encouragement to leap. As a Christian, I not only believe because my family does, but because I have personal experiences too unique to be coincidences. My helper and instructor is the Holy Spirit. On this road, He has my back therefore I have freedom the world cannot understand. Many think it’s a “crutch mentality” when in actual sense it’s the closest thing to freedom a human will ever experience. I’m sure my brothers and sisters in Christ know what I’m talking about.
And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Colossians 2: 13-15
There is some sort of irony in giving up want you want for His will. Consider this, when going into a new perspective field, you have your research. We can agree that when the rubber meets the road, it’s a different ball gall and hence advisors and mentors and experienced icons come into play. They advise accordingly. How much more a loving father to his children?
Conclusions.
God’s plan for your life is nothing short but the best but He will never force His will on you. At the time, the plan may not look like much but God has a way of turning things around into a spectacle. His plan may not be what you want but what you need.
In light of this, can you see the big picture of Christ’s crucifixion and His resurrection? Because of the Adamic sinful nature, we were condemned to die but his blood washes that sentence away. Furthermore, it promises us a future, a relationship with Him just as it was meant to be. If that’s not freedom, I don’t know what is.
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:14
