Intimidation.

It was a normal cold morning shift on the weekend when I had to face my giant. My colleage at work had been acting like my boss the past week and being passive aggressive. Not to mention the supervisor was hard on me as well. It wasn’t easy and I’m sure some of us know the feeling. I decided to talk to her about her behaviour but nothing was forthcoming. You can imagine the situation. I told her I was going to quit and stormed off.

There’s always that big bully in your life sitting on what was promised for you. When the 12 Israelite spies went out to scout the Promised Land, they came back with a negative report. A report that made the entire nation wail and wish for Egypt again. I’ve found myself in that cycle and I’m sure it’s familar. When the circumstance is too tough, you wish for what seemed a comfortable time.

And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt (Numbers 14:3-4)

Dealing with the Giants.

When we apply the Word in our lives, we can see that it’s not just about confrontation and the likes but rather the a spiritual conquest. God blessed you with a new job, a promotion, a scholarship, an NGO project, a new friend, an opportunity to speak before many, a spouse, a house, it could be anything. But somehow the blessing is being blocked with fear, doubt arrogance or even shame and the list goes on. God has given you this blessing, surely He can’t give you one that will harm you. It’s evident the enemy is trying to intimidate you. Poisoning your thoughts; that you aren’t worthy of it and you should quit.

Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:9-11

As a believer, have the courage of Joshua. Be vigilant to take what God has given you. Remember it has your name already. All you have to do is claim it, don’t let your colleagues at you job intimidate you, don’t let your boss opress you, don’t fear the crowd before you and do not doubt yourself. You are not a grasshopper. Grab that demonic bull by the horns and bind it! (Mathew 16:19)

I was frustrated that day, arranging food on the shelves defeatedly. Coincidentally my Dad showed up, doing some shopping. I was surprised. As I helped locate some items on my list, I shared with him what happened that morning.One thing he said I recall clearly is, “Don’t let anyone deter you from what God has given you. You are rightfully here. Don’t listen to what she has to say but what God has to say about you.”

Go ahead and tie up that giant. You have what it takes.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
    he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
    he enables me to tread on the heights.

Habakuk 3:19
