Jobs Everywhere

Before I begin, I pray earnestly that you are all in good health even in the middle of this global pandemic. I pray that you and your loved ones are covered by the blood of Jesus. In Ephesians 1:22, Christ has put all things under His feet, therefore we are victorious and healthy in Jesus name….

If you look hard enough, there are many many Jobs all around you. But that’s not what we are looking at today. If you change your vantage point, you might not look so closely anymore. Today we are discussing why people blame God and feel justified while they do it.

Everyone knows Job from the Bible. A religious and wealthy man at his time but all that came to ruin after a wager in heaven. This is my thinking. A teacher is always proud of their students. That’s why there are educational competitions, testing all sorts of values. And Job was in one when he didn’t even know it. In the end he never cursed God but he did heap a mountain of complaints before Him. He felt justified.

Why the cookie crumbles.

Why are we so comfortable blaming God in times of distressing times? We have all manner of angry questions that we shout in prayer, we know them. The answer is simple. Our own pride and arrogance. And it is costing us a lot.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you from being a priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.”

Hosea 4:6

Woah! That is serious and harsh to some extent. Forgetting me and my children? Wait, look closer. This is what awaits people who have rejected knowledge. And what’s that? The Bible and the Holy Spirit. So before we feel so entitled, we have to ask ourselves, have we held up our part of this relationship?

Story time: An abandoned family home needs to be renovated. The construction guys are working on the house while the gardener is also at work. The gardener is enjoying doing some topiary, adds a fountain, cuts back the weeds and thorns and adds a cute stone path for access. When the house is unveiled, the family is surprised and of course they want to go over the limits. the young boy is caught in some weeds and instead of crying for help, he instantly blames the gardener for not getting rid of the thorns. The mother rushed over but the father knew. The child should not have gone there yet he said nothing to the gardener.

What I’m I trying to say? Most people who are quick to blame God for their lives outcomes are those who haven’t really attached to Christ. They do not know the dynamics of how this whole thing works. Christ has already laid his life for you and even gave you a guide but you still choose to do your own things, live in the moment and when it all goes bust, Christ gets the blame.
Anytime we are living life away from God, guess who is ready to pounce? Christ defeated the enemy, literally, cut him back and put him in his place. And gave you the ability to live a victorious life in Him. God has given everything you need to live that life, including His own son. Why do you want Him to be bad to fit your needs?

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

1 Timothy 1:4

For the serious part

Another reason why God is blamed is He allows bad things to happen to good people. Only God is good, we are just people, that’s pride. I believe that this is mostly believers, who went through tough times but they cracked and gave up. Family deaths, eviction, debt, sickness and so on.

I’m here to remind you that not all that happens on the earth is God’s plan. If you study the prophecy of Jeremiah it will give you a different approach to all this. He foretold that God’s lasting relationship will now be in people’s hearts through Christ. What does that tell you? He loves us so much, His son died for us so that he could come even closer. Dwell in our homes and workplaces instead of us slaughtering animals once a week in a temple. He evolved the relationship from just actions, to love. At the same time He is not shoving this down your throat. When we seek Him in His word, we get built up and when the enemy comes, he flees. Because the enemy sees a fortified Christian, a protected home, marriage an provisions. Involve Him and you will see a change.

“Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

Jeremiah 33:3

I hear some of us like, “It’s not easy!”
Of course it’s not easy. We live in a fallen world. We fell so long ago, that we are still trying to explore our authority as believers even when the key was given to us 2020 years ago. The good news is even with the recency of Christ, His blood is by far the most powerful thing to have been shed for us. We have Christ on our side, who can be against us? It’s about time we stopped crying and complaining and become the soldiers that God has in mind.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”

John 14:12-14

He loves you.
Stay safe.
