Clay’s Attitude.

I was having a chat with my small sister last night about life and teenage years. It’s true that second-last and third-last borns enjoy quite a luxury and she felt obligated to certain trends. Just going with the flow on media. Our conversation lasted about 30 minutes because I didn’t want to get her bored. I finished by saying, in all things, involve God and appreciate what you have.

The nod she gave me communicated she didn’t understand the full extent of it. As I broke it down for her, I mulled over it too. The fact that “life happens” gives an array of responses to circumstances. Not all of them are correct though. We all know this verse:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

So why is it still hard for us to let God help us? Correct. Our habit of constant worrying, pride, anger and all that. Those are the responses to “life happens.” A family member asked me one day, “Have you ever seen clay talking back to the potter? Have you ever heard it complain, lament or ridicule the potter’s craftsmanship? And yet it sits tight in the furnace not to be removed a minute earlier to ensure it’s capabilities.”

That’s a potter with a pile of clay. Imagine a father and his children. What kind of love is this that doesn’t separate us from Him? Surrendering everything to Him gives us the peaceful life we need because He’ll deal with everything. After all, the Word says that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose in Romans 8:28.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55: 8-9
