Many a time as believers, we are easily carried away by the environment around us. The troubles and frustrations of life come at us at full speed. Take a second to think of your strategies; I know, it’s the rat race we get stuck in. As a Christian, I constantly have to remind myself to rely on the Lord. Let’s discuss two ways to become an overcomer in Christ.
A Guarded Heart.
The Bible discusses various conditions of the heart, but most important of all, we are advised to guard it. Why? Because the heart can be given away, can be troubled, stores our treasures and desires, etc. With this in mind, an unprotected heart can easily be manipulated by the enemy. As Christians, we strive to be keen on the environment around us, no matter how chaotic. What may seem like a mindless comment may be a seed intended for harm. This is not a coincidence, it’s a battle.
To unlock the victories of an overcomer, first, we place our trust and obedience in the Lord. Worshipping Him in Spirit and in Truth, always pressing towards the mark of His high calling. You may have done something bad even two hours ago. But when you go to the presence of the Lord to repent and accept to obey Him, He comes into your life like a mighty wave and sets all things new.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:3-5
The Doer.
How many of us are asked about the Sunday sermon only to have no answer? The awkwardness is not only embarrassing but also a tangible thievery of the Word from our hearts. As I said, this battle is real. Practicing and disciplining ourselves to be doers is like training for the journey ahead. If we can apply math formulas to help solve statistical equations, I bet we can also train in discernment, wisdom, in sensitivity to the Holy Spirit!
Trust, the word of the Lord will not fall in the ground but will fulfill its purpose to which it was sent. The Word is sent to encourage, strengthen, bless, protect you! We are overcomers because God says so in His Word.
In Conclusion…
Many victories, blessings, and promises the Lord gives are seeds. When we purpose to follow His instruction in our lives, His seed blooms in our lives as well. The life of Joshua in the Bible had interesting occurrences. His zealousness for God gave him and Israel victory over Jericho by praise alone. He conquered the land God promised Abraham from 31 kings in a single campaign. The Jordan was parted and the Israelites crossed. When in battle, the sun did not set until they won the battle.
Being an overcomer isn’t the materialistic organized schedules alone, it also involves the Hand and the power of God. Remember you and God will always be the majority,
Stay Blessed.
Yes! I believe the heart should be most guarded. What’s in the heart will most likely control us, therefore what goes in must absolutely be vetted.
