What it means to be learned.

My brother is a burst of energy. He’s constantly motivating himself to the kind of lifestyle he wants. You can imagine billionaire-type videos. I know he can make it because he sets his mind to. One day he held the family’s attention on Rockefeller and narrated a short story.

I was filled with awe because, in the end, I realize my brother unlocked a secret. What does it mean to be learned? Is it the same as stacking your certificates? In this generation especially in 3rd world countries, there’s an emphasis on good grades to get a good job. The apparent pressure created isn’t easy to cope with and hence negative impacts are produced. Regrettably, it becomes easier to fast-track the learning because education is the key. As much as this is true, we can look deeper.

More importantly, the number of graduations is rising each year and more families are climbing out of poverty. In Africa, we may have a long way to go but the last 20 years of progress are worth celebrating. For a deeper meaning of learning, lets look at the “why.”

Differences in goals.

For one to start, one must look to God. Without a deep search and walk with God, the reason for our being is missed. The late Myles Munroe, RIP, points out that we as children of God are an answer to our generation. The earth is waiting to see the manifestation of men. There’s so much more we are created for than money and comfortable life. Unfortunately because of the economic crisis, the elders would advise the younger generation to have a stable jobs. Hence the pressure.

Just like my brother I want to start a conversation on the “why” of education. Let’s begin with our passion so that 10 years to come, we are fulfilled in the career choice and job because we are fulfilled in God. He tells us what we don’t know, He knows us better than we know ourselves.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience.

Romans 5:3

Life of school or School of life?

Going through life it’s essential to get the tools you need. You need to be ready and the time of preparation has its expiry date. What is the burning desire in your heart? What ideas consume your time? Does becoming a lawyer inch you closer to your goal? Go get it. That’s how we know what we are supposed to do. Many a time students go to college and abandon and pick up degrees or study for a degree their parents want. Please let us not pressurize these young minds further. Instead as the body of Christ, we can pray for them to find their answer in God. This way we are all able to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Also, it is helpful to keep in mind that the Lord deems the knowledge of this world as foolishness ( 1 Cor 3:19). This tells us that there’s a higher level of knowledge not known to man but only to God. Going through life asking God the reason for your being is like the school of life if you may. Adding this on top of mankind-education will give your life more meaning.

With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

Job 12:12

Levels of Influence.

I mentioned preparation earlier. The timing of this is essential because launching earlier or later than is necessary would fail. As a child of God, we are a beacon of hope and change in society because the light of God shines in us. When we allow the Lord to work in our society through us, He trusts us with more responsibility. The beauty is this: It won’t feel like a burden because that’s where your passion is! See how this all ties in? The Lord elevates you into levels and certain famous circles while you continue to shine for Him.

Many try to jump from preparation straight into influence and it never works. Remember Joseph? Moses? David? These three men have one thing in common: Their stories are much more similar than we think. They had a time of preparation before they could embark on God’s calling. They accepted that they were answers to their generation and He planted them firmly in the writings of History.

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble.

2 Peter 1:10

Conclusion.

With Go,d it is possible to break free from chains of procrastination, distraction, and hopelessness. The Lord is always ordering our steps in the way we should go ( Psalm 23). Please commit to the Lord in prayer in faith, He never disappoints! And listen to the still small voice of wisdom and He will unlock secrets man doesn’t know ( Jeremiah 33:3). He will inspire your greatest artworks and solve a math equation or show you which colors match the cutting-edge fashion dress you are working on. God does this because He loves you and always wants the best for you. He wants you to reach your full potential.

Stay safe, and be motivated 🙂
